Coffeeshop-Restaurant Fitout
In this blog post, we’d like to share some insights into one of our local projects in Perth, WA.
One of our late 2024 projects involves the fit out of a new coffeeshop/restaurant at Burns Beach, WA. The project manager from the building company engaged Stirling Design to build, install, and finalise the fitout for this new space. The brief included constructing a bar, seating area, and shelving/storage units using MDF, a raw timber material. To achieve an industrial aesthetic, the bar and shelving units will be finished with a fine, thin layer of concrete, while the seating area will feature high-quality upholstery. Typically, we begin such projects by measuring the space and product dimensions, but in this instance, the builder provided complete drawings and measurements, allowing us to focus on calculating material requirements and installation costs.
Once the quote is approved, materials are ordered, fabricated in our workshop, and then installed on site over several weeks—a timeline that depends on factors such as coordination with other trades, council approvals, and final touch-ups. Seeing a project evolve from initial drawings to a fully realized.
A similar project completed in 2022/2023 in Mount Lawley involved a dual-purpose space serving as a coffeeshop by day and a wine bar by night. While the process mirrored the Burns Beach fitout, that project was within an existing building, located on the ground floor in one of Perth’s central suburbs.
Similar to the Burns Beach project, the design, drawings, measurements, and choice of materials were finalised by the builder. Stirling Design’s role was to implement the architectural plans precisely to deliver the interior fit-out. The style is Mediterranean-inspired, featuring warm textures, dark materials, and brass finishes throughout. This project was recognized with an award for its exceptional interior and unique menu offerings in Perth.
We are proud to have contributed to the realization of this distinguished space remains highly rewarding.
